PI is an active RPG with many members and even more characters, but we always need more. So if you want to play a student or magical adult, drop in and say hello! There are also many canon characters still available for audition but if you don't wish to play a canon character, simply fill out an application form and await approval.
PLEASE NOTE: We have now moved ahead to 7pm on Friday, 17th October, 2008. No classes are in session but students may roam the castle and grounds as they please.
For class schedules, click ( here ) and to see if your student is enrolled in the class, click ( here ) If there are any questions, please PM an admin.

general rp rules .
age
All players must be over 13 years of age in order to comply with the Proboards Terms of Service. Any boards found in violation of this regulation run the risk of being closed down. Please, if you are under thirteen, do not sign up. You'll be wasting your time and mine.
no power playing / GMing
This means that you MAY NOT move, talk for, injure, maim or kill another players character without the expressed permission of that player and an admin. It also means that you cannot hear private thoughts. Just because someone is thinking something in a post with you, it doesn't mean you know about it. Likewise, any information about a character that is in their profile or a post that is not directly verbalised to you, assume that you don't know it.
no flaming
This means that there will be no slating or bad mouthing any other players IC or OOC. If you have a problem with another player, please contact one of the Mods and we will do our best to resolve the issue in an adult manner. Any players consistently disrespecting others will be sent to Azkaban.
OOC ( out of character )
There shall be no OOC chat in the In Character boards. There is an OOC section for you all to chat in out of character, as well as a cbox. Use them.
graphics
You must have an avatar in your profile that depicts your character. It can be a maximum of 150 x 500 pixels. If you choose to have a signature, it will be a maximum of 500 pixels wide and 300 pixels high. Anything larger than this will be resized or deleted without notice.
character creation .
Players have two weeks after registering in which to create a character for submission. If no character is created, and no contact is made with an admin, then the player will be deleted. Whereas we don't mind the odd lurker, we don't want this board to be full of them. Therefore there will be regular spring cleaning of the members list, and any inactive members will be deleted.
All characters must have a profile. This includes a description of what they look like, an outline of their personality and some background or history. There is a profile template ( here ) for you to work from. No half-done or work in progress applications will be accepted.
No player is allowed to make their character invincible. We all like to be powerful but no one is God-like; everyone has their weaknesses. If any character is created that is too ‘Mary-Sue’ or ‘Gary-Stu’, i.e. perfect, they will be denied.
To have a character with the same surname as one who has been highlighted in the Harry Potter books, you must first request them with an admin. This is because we don't want lots of unaccounted for Weasley's, or Potter's, or Malfoy's, etc. Remember that the year in game is 2008, meaning that the Golden Trio and those that attended Hogwarts with them would be around 28 years old, so it's highly unlikely that they'd have children at Hogwarts age.
Not every character will be a pureblood witch or wizard. In fact, they should be kept to a minimum. Over time, magical blood will have become more and more diluted by muggle blood and so not many true purebloods will exist.
Players do not pick the house that they are sorted into; the Sorting Hat will pick it for you. This will be based upon what you write in your application and also to balance out the houses. It wouldn’t be fun if we had loads of Gryffindors and Slytherins but no Hufflepuffs or Ravenclaws. When your house has been picked for you, it will appear on your profile. The decision of the Sorting Hat is final.
All characters must be represented by different models and have different names. No Lukas and Lucas, no Brittany and Britney. Also, no one may use a cartoon picture/anime/manga/drawing to represent their character. It MUST be of an actual person ( model/celebrity/musician/whatever ) and not already be in use by another player. Also, please bear in mind that your character should be represented by a model that looks near to the age your character is. As wonderful as Johnny Depp is, he’s not going to pass for a 15 year old as he looks now!
We encourage players to have multiple characters - the more, the merrier - but players should only create as many characters as they can handle. Don't create 10 and only play 3!
No player will be permitted to create more than two characters until they have reached at least fifty ( 50 ) posts on both of their original accounts. The last thing that we want is someone coming in, creating five characters, posting once and disappearing. Once you have proven your dedication to the group and RPing in general, then you will be permitted to apply for more.
Each character must have their own account, and your display name must be the characters first and last name. That's display name, the one that you can change in your profile. You can have whatever you want as your log in name.
After you have a character approved, you may apply for your character to have a special power. Things that are classed as special powers are:
Legilimency, Occlumency and Parseltongue, also being a metamorphmagus, werewolf or animagus.
In addition to this rule, no one may apply for any special powers until they have been active here for at least one month. Also, be aware that since they are rare powers, you may be denied. We are currently not accepting vampire characters.
No foreign exchange students. Hogwarts is for residents of the UK only. This means that they were born in the UK to at least one British parent.
Strictly NO one-liners! Give your posts a bit of substance. ALL posts should be a bare minimum of two paragraphs ( that’s about 12- 14 sentences ), or 300 words. The more detail you give, the more realistic the game is.
When posting, please write in the third person, past tense: e.g. she said, Mary asked, John replied. Not in the first person, e.g. I said, I asked, I walked etc. Also, no net-speak. Good grammar and spelling is required. Remember, spell check is your friend!
All players are requested to post at least once per week for each of the characters you own. If you cannot meet this requirement, please email or PM Quinn to let her know. If you do not post in one month, you will be contacted by Quinn and if no response is received, your character will be deleted.
This RP works to a time line. That means that some events ( i.e. classes ) will take place at set times and are mandatory for all involved. There will be other events that have mandatory attendance for some characters but they will be announced during the course of the game. At times when there are no mandatory events ( i.e. outside of class time ), characters are free to go wherever they wish.
Please make a note of who you are tagging in the subject line of your post. This should be done like this:
attn: Dominic, Zhenya, Keelin
Or
attn: Ravenclaws
Likewise, please take note of title lines and tags. If your character is not listed in the [attn] line, please do not assume that you can just jump into the plot. Please be aware that players may have spent weeks devising a plot and random characters may throw a huge spanner in the works. It is common courtesy to ask one of the players before you jump in, that way, you'll be up to speed with the plot. Use the OOC threads to liaise with other players.
Your character may not be in more than one place at once. To make it a little easier for readers, please make it clear in your posts where your character has come from and is going to. A simple note at the end of your post will suffice, for example:
Continues in the Great Hall
Do not create your own thread. To reply, please reply to the thread that is titled the current date the game is on.
finally .
The rules here are only here to ensure the smooth running of the game, not to hinder anyone or stunt their creative growth. If we all take note of them, the game will flow along nicely and all the boys and girls will be able to play together in harmony!
If there are any bits that you are unclear on, or if you have any questions, please contact one of the Mods who will be happy to help out.
