Character Information
Basics
Character Name: Rachel Elizabeth Megaera Cook Cullen Nickname(s): Rach; Rem; Remmy; Dizzy [Matthew and Carter only]; Skip, Skipper, Freckles & Lizzie [Carter] Age: Twenty-six Date of Birth: October Fourteenth, Nineteen-eighty-two.
Although slightly short in stature, standing at a mere 5' 5", Rachel makes up for it with a strong glare when it comes to intimidating people. Which she takes great joy in, might I add. With dark green eyes, Rachel can give off that look of your impending death in a heart beat, and she thoroughly enjoys it when she is able to use it on an unsuspecting victim. Dark hair frames her face, matching up to the already slightly tanned complexion she has donned since birth. As it is slightly wavy, Rachel finds little use for spells on it. Especially when she doesn't feel the need to waste energy. It has a slight red tint to it when the sun bounces off right, and when she uses straightening spells, it seems to give off a slight shimmer.
Despite having a small frame, Rachel has managed to fill herself out with a good amount of muscle. It is needed, she had decided a long time ago, what with all the running that is some times needed in her life. in Rachel's opinion, you've got to be ready for battle when the time comes, so she isn't about to let herself go to waste waiting around. All in all, she probably weighs in at about 9 stone.
Rachel's dressing style generally relies are the darker colour palette. Mostly blacks, in order to blend in with the shadows, you know. Though, she isn't against a few more natural earthy tones every now and then. Her outfit usually consists of a pair of pants, rarely shorts, and a form fitting teeshirt, usually accompanied by a jacket of some sort. After her school days, Rachel vowed she would never wear witches robes again. She felt they were too 'school-girl-ish' for her life after graduation, and therefore no longer dons them.
Looks Like: Evangeline Lilly
Characteristics
Personality:
HYPOCRITICAL; If there is one truth to Rachel at all, it's that she hates everything that she is, most of the time without even realizing it. Muggles being the most apparent thing. Being a half blood herself doesn't help her in her cause of Pureblood supremacy, and instead often leaves her with more difficulty than anything else. But beyond the obvious self-hate for her unfortunate bloodline, in reality, Rachel Cook does things in a more Muggle-esque way than she realizes. The Muggle clothing she clad herself in to avoid Wizarding robes, due to discomfort. Her home in London consists of mostly Muggle amenities. When she does cook, Rachel usually does it all by hand, rather than flicking her wand. Muggle sunglasses are often worn to hide the tired look underneath. Not to mention she'd rather use a piece of cutlery, rather than zap your arse with a curse. Rachel rarely handles situations from a magical stand-point, leaving one to wonder if she joined the DE's just to have something to blame for her actions. Rachel has an enormous amount of anger toward exactly what she is, though if you tried to tell her that, she'd probably pop off your kneecap with a spoon.
AGGRESSIVE; Not being the type to ever let anything stand in her way, Rachel Cook has been, for as long as anybody can remember, the type to be slanted much more to an aggressive mindset. This, as one can expect, has led her into many a fights over the years. Prefect duties were kept far away from Rachel while in school, suspected to be due to a number of fighting matches. That habit has stuck into her adult life, as she would still be the one to throw the first punch if you ticked her off. With any luck, your insides will remain in your body by the end of the match. The point is though, that once Rachel sets her sights on something, it is nigh on impossible to waver her, unless something better comes along, and if you get in her way, she wouldn't hesitate to stick a fork in your face.
PROTECTIVE; Protecting the people she gave a shit about has always been a touchy subject for Rachel. While she is still protective, perhaps even overly so, she'd much rather stick herself with a fondue fork than admit it. For one, it'd mean she cared enough about someone to go out of her way to take care of them, which is hard enough to even admit to herself, much less the people around her. She's fairly paranoid about people seeing past the walls she has built around herself, and the fact that there are people she cares about is one of the cards she plays close to her chest. That doesn't stop her from kicking ass and taking names when one of her friend's is threatened though. Rach always manages to find some way to make herself affected by whatever is happening, and therefore having a reason to get involved. The woman is especially protective of her brother and sister, not to mention her kids, so if you want to keep your person in one piece, don't mess with them. Actually, just don't mess with any of the people that have managed to place themselves in Rach's Circle of Ass Kicking. It'd really be better for your health.

She was bound to possess the general personality quarks that a 'proper' Slytherin would have. Luckily for her, she had those and more. It was her cunning and deceiving attitude that got her into Slytherin when she was eleven, and those traits have only evolved through the years. Rachel would do whatever she needed to, shamelessly, to achieve her ends, just as the Hat had said one year. If some thing was in her way, she would not hesitate to move it, no matter what force of action must be taken.
And, as you might have predicted, this made the younger twin prone to fights growing up. Whether magical or physical, Rachel was more likely than not to be the main agitator in the situation. She was rather outspoken with her thoughts, no matter how controversial they were. In reality, many of her comments were hypocritical slurs against Muggles. With partial 'dirt' in her veins as it was, Rachel couldn't stand the thought of people worse than her walking around that school. And she hated that Muggle blood that she shared with them. As it was, Rachel was convinced that she was doing the right thing, to contribute to the 'greater good' of the Wizarding world. Most oblivious people do.
And, in that sense, it is easy to say that Rachel hates herself for being part Muggle. She hates what she is. Hates that she'll never be pure. Hates what runs in her blood. It makes her feel dirty.
Rachel Cook is in no way lacking in sarcasm. In fact, in her case, it is on back order. She has found over the years that a snide sarcastic remark is the best cure, no matter what the ailment.
In school, Rachel just scraped by, managing to squeeze two O.W.Ls out of her seven years. Not to mention an array of barely passing grades. Not that she really cared, of course. According to her, it was her 'destiny' to serve as a Death Eater, and that did not require any great shakes for a grade point average. Despite the low scores she may have received, it is very wrong indeed to assume that she is a stupid girl. Loon, maybe, but in no way dumb. After all, it takes a lot of brain power to pull off perfectly executed schemes and not get caught.
At a magical standpoint, Rachel is an exceptional witch. This has caused a great wave of disappointment to wash over her image over the years by classmates, professors and bystanders alike. She has managed to wiggle herself rather high in the ranks of the Death Eaters, bringing with it an increasing pressure to not falter and has caused her to be a bit strung out.
Usually, Rachel can be found with an indifferent take on things, but she has a very short fuse underneath it all. If she doesn't like you, then that's it. She probably never will. Rachel is amazingly head strong and arrogant, and therefore, shaking her from her own brought on beliefs is nigh on impossible.

History:
It was October Fourteenth, nineteen-eighty-two, if I'm not mistaken, that the Cook twins were welcomed to the world. Unfortunately for Rachel, it was Matthew who would be donned the 'first child'. Despite being told by her father that it was only a 'technical term', and it didn't really mean anything, it didn't stop her brother from mentioning the age difference any time he could. Quite frankly, it ticked her off pretty well. Had it been her in his shoes, she probably would have enjoyed any advantage. But, since she was fated to be the younger of the set, Rachel could find nothing in her heart but disgust for the whole situation.
It was for their own benefit that the twins were moved away from family early in life. It was their mother's relatives that dedicated their life to the Dark Arts and blood-purity, and therefore, they were rather disgruntled about Megaera's marriage to half-blooded Nathanial Cook. Though the children were quickly whisked off to live out their childhood in bliss, Rachel couldn't help but wonder. Despite her age, Rachel Cook had been a rather curious, not to mention cunning little girl.
The twins were brought up in Northern England, near the top of the Thames. Fortunately, the Cooks were of fairly decent wealth, and so the children were brought up in bliss. They were around seven or eight when Rachel had to attach her proverbial 'baby of the family' pin to Danika's chest. It was good to be free of that title...besides, that meant anything she did could be blamed on being the middle child. Apparently it was a syndrome, or something. Matthew took on the big brother roll, and Rach was left to pick up the pieces when she wasn't the one shattering them in the first place.
Time came and went however, and before they knew it, the time had come to depart for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, something Rachel had anxiously awaited since she was as little girl. Hogwarts would bring time for independence, not to mention the call of a new life. Unfortunately for her, Rachel Cook hadn't an idea that her so called 'new life' would to years of controversy and hardships.
As fate would have it, Matthew and Rachel were sorted into rival houses, Gryffindor and Slytherin; Rachel's being the latter, of course. The sorting would be burned into her mind forever, as it probably should have been.
Matthew's name came before hers, making him one of the first people to be sorted. The hat didn't do much thinking before shouting his house's name, and the table of crimson and black glad lunatics went ballistic. Matt had given her a little thumbs up as he sauntered over to the Lion table, before her name was bellowed over the hall. The tables all fell silent again as Rach sat down, and the same old rag of a hat that determined the futures of her parents, and now Matthew as well, was placed on her head. It felt like it had been quiet for a long time, though she'd later learn it really wasn't that long at all. Rach could hear a voice in her head that wasn't her own, somewhere in the back of her mind, burrowing into her thoughts as it picked apart who she was and who she'd become. "You aren't like your brother at all, are you?" It asked for only her to hear, and Rachel noted how rhetorical the question sounded. "Would it be so bad for people to know you cared about them? You really don't need them, after all, you are brilliant enough to take care of yourself. Lazy though, I see, and a bit of a tease. Independent, I can tell. Having someone to pick you up would eat you away, wouldn't it? I can see you are angry, but even you don't know why, do you?" While Rach didn't mind hearing all about herself, she was pretty much about ready to rip the hat to shreds. The Hat then projected it's voice across the room, apparently ready to make her place known to the school. She cast a look at Matt, who seemed to be holding his breath. "There isn't a doubt you are unlike the rest, but it's the nefarious things you'll do the best. You might think it's horrible, being what you are, but you will learn in time, there are worse things by far. I know without question the lies you spin, so go take your place in the ranks of Slytherin!" The first thing Rachel registered after that was the look on Matthew's face, like someone had just put his favourite frog in the microwave (she never pressed 'start', thanks very much), quickly followed by the loud cheers of the Slytherin table as the hat was removed from her head, and Rachel strode to her seat with pride. It was that house that would shape her entire view on the world, and Rach was pleased to be one of the elite.
The whole house thing really caused strife between the siblings, as their general crowds hated each other with a passion. It was not unusual for the twins to be walking together, and tag-alongs to start a fight. As it would pan out, it would be Matthew who gained the better scores, academically speaking, but frankly, my dear, she didn't give a damn. Rachel, by the time of her O.W.Ls had already decided upon a set path for the future. She'd follow in the footsteps of her distant relatives and join the ranks of the Death Eaters.
The dating game during her Hogwarts years was a tricky one. Not lined with quite as many boys as one would assume, Rachel was torn between two guys in her school days. Derrick Kearney, who was a few years ahead, and Carter Cullen, in the next year above. All three were fairly close friends, often forgetting the year difference. That was until Carter and Derrick got into a duel. Over Rachel. Pleased though she was to be the cause of all the mayhem, it still wasn't a pretty sight. Carter ended up with his arse whooped, though he did manage to score himself a new girlfriend. Derrick graduated soon after, leaving Carter and Rachel to pursue their relationship. It was snazzy and long lasting for a school affair. Rach never really was much for browsing. In her sixth year, the two ended up breaking off their three year relationship, leaving Rachel quiet for the next year, before entering into what would be a pain in the arse relationship with Derrick Kearney.
It would turn out that after graduation, things would only become harder for the twins. Matthew was disgusted with her siding choice, and ran off to join the Ministry of Magic and the ranks of the Order of the Phoenix. It was then that the two would latch onto a game of Cat and Mouse that would last for years on end.
Rachel had received the word of Matthew's disappearance from fellow Death Eaters, and put on a mask of indifference. Despite her relativity high ranking in the local system, an aimed hit at Matthew could have very well been kept hushed. So, for three years, Rachel lived in a cloud of confusion as to the where-abouts of her once inseparable twin brother.
During his time away, Rachel found herself apprehended by a Order of the Phoenix member named Phoenix Canlow, and sent to Wizard court. However, an insufficient amount of evidence was found, and Rachel was set free. She does not choose to reside under the cover of shadows however, in this matter. No, Rachel Cook takes more of a 'catch me if you can' approach and makes a habit of placing herself in the public eye.
It was only after her father's death that she had gotten wind of Matthew turning up. He was set to take over the Leaky Cauldron. Although it was instinct for Rachel to turn a slight bit jealous, she decided very early on that she wanted no part of owning the 'family business'. It wasn't a concern of hers, and it would have gotten in her way anyway.
So the twins were left to patch things up once more, leaving for high tensions their first visit. Rachel probably will never forget the look on Matt's face when she walked through the door of the Leaky Cauldron for the first time since his return. He wasn't pleased with her dripping rainwater on his floor, and Rach wasn't pleased with...well, anything. The visit was cut in half when a little girl was found behind the Cauldron, which Matt quickly took in and treated to a hot drink and a blanket. Rach was a tad bit jealous of the warm reception the kid received, and took her leave soon after.
It was after that visit that Rachel picked up occasional shifts at the tavern, usually helping out when things got hectic. Too hectic to have to see much of Matthew's mug. It was a bit awkward, though, so her sessions were usually short.
Perhaps her crowning achievement of recent times, the murder of Maya Canlow proved to help out with some of the tension that seemed to be building in Miss Cook. Stabbing Phoenix directly in the heart was both necessary and freakishly amusing.
A fight in the Forbidden Forest followed weeks later, held between Rachel and a Werewolf. Not exactly something she was pleased about, especially after sustaining a scratch on her arm, which was closely monitored for the following days. The tussle lead to the discovery of Lola Buchholz's mangled body, and a partnership with Rowena Beackstead who had found the body as well. The title of 'allies' didn't last much more than a week, at the most, before Rachel had to clean up, simply calling it 'damage control'.
Rachel was named a member of the Wizengamot as of late, before finding herself in a marriage engagement to Derrick Kearney, leaving her to bash down her brother's door. Enough was enough. Time to break the silence. She found him alone, surrounded by empty bottles, looking fairly shitty if you asked her. The two proceeded to have a much needed heart to heart over a few bottles of Jack Daniels. The truth about Rachel's personal life came out, informing Matthew that he had a nephew unknown to him for the past seven years. She was clobbered with the news that he was having a baby with the 'love of his life'. Did she need to know it was her best friend Sasha Pendleton? ...not really. Rach had a nice 'told ya so but eeeeehhhh' moment, before finding out Matthew was the wolf that left a scar on her arm. Wow. Irony.
Lately, Rach has put her new found Ministry powers to good use, making a case for Daniel Carrington's release. The best part of her life, minus the nifty family? Phoenix Canlow is behind bars.
Now that, readers, is some funny arse stuff.
Or it was, until he managed to escape. Bummer, man. Not as much of a bummer as some of the crap going down in her life with Carter and Derrick though. Rachel is not pleased. At least Dani still loves her lots, am I right? Hey, she got over it and married Carter. GOOD TIMES ARE GOOD, STFU.
WHY SO SERIOUS; One part of her history we haven't touched on is the part she dislikes to speak of most. If there is one thing in her life that she is ashamed of, it is the decisions she made when it came to her personal life. One section in particular stands out on the 'way-to-go-rachel' meter, and it involves a rather charming older Slytherin by the name of Derrick Kearney. She had known him for a little while in school, even if the age difference was something like three years. Once the blonde had graduated, the two kept in touch and formed a deep bond.
Well, deep bonds have their ways, don't they? And before she knew it, Rachel found herself with a son. Way to go, Rachel. Though maybe not the 'proud' parents, they were parents to Alastair Caspian Kearney none-the-less. The details as to why it was kept a secret that Rachel was, in fact, the boy's mother have been blurred by time. But, the matter of the fact is that only Derrick and Rachel are aware of the fact that Rach is the mother. How they kept it such a secret, who knows. But it was a mutual agreement that Alastair would be better off with a void mother, rather than have the world know the truth. However, in one of the very few acts of decency in her life, Rachel decided that she wanted to be a part of the boy's life. After all, he was her son, even if nobody knew it but them. She and Derrick moved in together and took to raising their young son, often leaving him in the hands of his elder cousin, Branwen. Sometimes even Bradley would take care of Alastair, which was always questionable, considering Brad's track record, but Al never died so it was good. For three years it was a fine life that she had managed to keep under wraps, simply stating that her fiancé had a son and she just took care of him.
However, not all stories have happy endings and Rachel was carted off to Azkaban to stand trial for murder. Did she do it? Probably. Did she get sentenced to life behind bars? Oh hell no. But the time that she spent in Azkaban had changed her outlook on life, and decided it was about time to cut the tether that bound her and the two Kearney boy's. Honestly, Rach was a bit devastated. Never let it show, of course, because that would be pansyful and she couldn't have that. But really, both Alastair and Derrick were better off without her. She does stop by about once a week to visit with Al, to which they both look forward. Derrick has tried to get her to stay before, but it always ends on a slammed door and Rachel on the other side. Way to go, Rachel. WTG.
She'd never admit it, but Alastair at least is her secret weak spot. She'd probably do anything his seven year old mind could fathom. You better not freaking tell though, 'cause she'll carve your heart out with a very dull plastic spoon.
Things have been looking up, as of late. The two adults have since reconciled, making a marriage engagement. Rachel has even taken to living in the Kearney household. One must ask, however, how long Rachel can keep the 'happy family' image alive.
...apparently not very long at all.

zak made this one possible and i thank him for putting up with me long enough to rp this shiz out. i know rawrrick has had some majorly hard times, both on and off camera, and are in for more, but seriously dude, i owe you one.
this one i owe to bobert, mori and andy. bobert for putting mrs. canlow on the chopping block and having the idea in the first place, for which i thank him greatly. not to mention having enough patience to help me through planning it and giving me creative freedom with it. andy, whom i miss ferseriously, for just being her excellent self. mori, for doing some seriously brilliant writing in there and really showing me what a great character helena is. though, rach is a tad bit concerned she might have to kick helena's arse if she tries to steal the sociopath crown. and again laina, coral and mori for helping me through writing it and all that jazz. i know i was a lot less than cool in that chunk of time, but i really do appreciate you dudes helping me out with it. good luck with whatever you do next!
